American Horticultural Society at River Farm

We the People Project at the Workhouse Arts Center at Lorton
Workhouse Arts Center and Empowered Women International will join hands to have a memorable event on Feb 18 to April 3, 2009. Exhibits and performances will highlight the unique vision of America today through the eyes of immigrants and American-born artists.
The public in invited to a reception on March 29th from 2pm-4pm featuring mixed media group show and a performing arts event with storytelling, poetry and music of the participating artists.
The EWI also partnered with West Potomac Academy High School to provide mentoring and professional development to young artists and students in the media and dance programs. Selected students work will be presented during the March 29th special event.

NAACP Marks 100th Anniversary
On February 12, 2009, the NAACP marks its 100th anniversary. The NAACP headquarters based in Baltimore MD along with its 1,700 units nationwide will host celebrations and observances theoughout the year ending Feb 12, 2010 that highlight the significant role the organization has played in leading social change in America.
